Politics - Opinion
The politicians we elect to “represent” us have, historically speaking, done a piss poor job. Represent Us looked at a study from Princeton University which looked at 2,000 public opinion surveys and compared them to what actually became law and found that the opinion of 90% of Americans had no impact at all. Is that not terrifying? The blue and red people who spend billions every two years on ads over which one of them deserves to tax your hard-earned income the most, don’t actually care about you. So who do they care about? The people donating those billions they spend on advertising. And no, your ten-dollar contribution did not make a big enough impact for them to care about and represent you. Now that wasn’t the opinion part of this segment, that was study-based fact.
The opinion part of this segment is that your representative, whether they be in the house, senate, or governor, should have to live off of the average income for the area they represent. So a senator living in a state with an average yearly income of $60,000 should have to live off $60,000 a year so long as they are in office. Campaign contributions should not be allowed in any way shape or form. If you want to run for office and need to spread your message, I hope you are good at budgeting because let’s face it, the average American (who they are supposed to represent) cannot afford to just buy ad time on TV and print thousands of fliers they just can’t. Why can’t they? Because they have to pick up the slack of their representatives with their wallets. For the past year, the price of everything everywhere has increased and so did the profit margins of all the big businesses that no one is allowed to compete with because they buy our politicians to make it so. They let the corporations feeding their pockets to stick us with the bill.
What’s Walter Thinking About?
Most shows shouldn't go past four or five seasons. In fact, a lot of TV shows would have been fine with one season. Money Heist is an excellent show however, only the first two seasons were actually necessary, the other seasons and the second heist were just to make more money. And not everything needs a universe, I understand you want to make millions building your discount marvel universe (which already sucks) but I would also like millions of dollars but you don’t see me making a Walter universe. Though, that gives me an idea.
